Best Buddies

Thank you for your interest in Best Buddies! Our Best Buddies chapter is a part of Best Buddies International, dedicated to improving the lives of those involved by increasing awareness and inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Below are answers to frequently asked questions:
How often do you meet?
Best Buddies meets once a month. Here at Henry, we hold our monthly meeting on the second Thursday of the month (if school is in session).
Our anticipated meeting dates for this year are:
September 14, October 19, November 9, December 14, January 11, February 8, March 14, & April 11
In May we will join in for a county wide event. Date to be determined.
What is a developmental disability?
While this is not an exhaustive list, some examples of developmental disabilities are: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Fragile X Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, Language Disorders, Learning Disorders, Tourette Syndrome, Speech Disorders, Hearing Loss, and Vision Impairment.
What do you do at the meetings?
Because the focus of Best Buddies is inclusion and building friendship, our activities revolve around having fun and getting to know each other. Example activities include crafts, listening to music, snacking, talking about our interests, playing games, dancing, and drawing. We also learn about different types of disabilities and ways we can be good friends.
